Reading Milestones
Reading Milestones is the most popular reading program of its kind. This successful alternative, language-controlled program is designed to take readers to approximately a fifth grade reading level. It is especially effective for students with hearing impairments and language delays and is also widely used with others who have special language and reading needs, including individuals with learning disabilities, developmental disabilities, and English Language Learners (ELL). These students are aided by reading materials designed to match their language levels and which progress in steps small enough to ensure continued success in reading.
The Reading Milestones program incorporates the five essential components recommended by the National Reading Panel (NRP, 2000):

Lexia Reading
Lexia provides personalized learning that is both student-driven and teacher-directed.
Using Lexia Reading Core5, students are automatically placed at the proper level and work independently on developing their foundational reading skills in the student activities. Teachers are provided with a data-driven action plan that tells teachers the specific skills on which each student needs instruction, and prescribes the precise amount of time on the software for each student. This way, teachers can spend their time focused only where it’s needed.
Students are automatically grouped by skill. The program provides scripted, skill-specific instructional materials, called Lexia Lessons®. These structured lesson plans provide step-by-step strategies for teachers or paraprofessionals to address each student’s skill-gaps. When a student completes a level in the program, teachers can access a customized certificate of achievement to recognize student progress. View a video demonstration.
Lexia Reading’s scope and sequence incorporates all five of the core reading skills determined essential by the National Reading Panel for reading proficiency. These essential reading skills are:

Just My Type
Just My Type is a way for students to gain keyboard skills without editing errors, in the context of real writing tasks, with the auditory and visual cues needed.
Just My Type gets kids with writing or learning problems to write/type independently instead of relying on cues from someone seated beside them. The keyboard layouts offer a visual cue that includes both small, large, left and right, upper and lower case IntelliKeys and frequent sequence layout all with On-Screen Typing Options. Just My Type allows kids to type using various access methods, and text limited only to what can be typed in, copied or imported from a text file. That translates into content that can be easily connected with curricular tasks. A diagnostics option provides a way to record student rate and errors/substitutions to track progress.
